How Etsy fees work
Etsy charges on item price + shipping + tax. 6.5% transaction fee + 3% + $0.25 payment processing + $0.20 listing fee.
- The 6.5% transaction fee applies to shipping and gift wrap you charge the buyer, not just the item — and payment processing (3% + $0.25 for US sellers) is charged on the full total including sales tax.
- If a sale comes through an Offsite Ad, a further 15% fee applies (12% once you've made $10,000 in the past 365 days, when the ads also become mandatory; capped at $100 per order). Not included above because it only hits ad-attributed sales.
- Listings cost $0.20 whether they sell or not and expire after 4 months, so slow-moving inventory quietly costs $0.60 a year per item just to stay listed.
